In 2008, EFE consolidated the process of creating affiliated companies for passengers transport, forming Trenes Metropolitanos, Fesub and Trenes Regionales, which add to the passenger transport subsidiary Metro de Valparaíso providing services in the V Region.
This has allowed defining a strategy for its new business focus, management of railway infrastructure and associated traffic, developing access contracts that guarantee the right to use the railway and business development, both in cargo and passengers transport.
To date, the trains of four passenger transport subsidiaries are using EFE’s railways:
Metro Regional de Valparaíso, S.A., is the passenger transport company of the V Region. It provides service to the boroughs of Valparaiso, Viña del Mar, Quilpué, Villa Alemana and Limache, through 43 miles of tracks and 20 underground stations.
Metro Valparaíso offers the most modern public transport system at regional level.
Metro Valparaíso has introduced services combined with buses which allow transport beyond Limache, i.e. Quillota, La Calera and Limache Viejo.
